Get the most out of it
Everything below is optional — the whistle above is the whole tool.
Who can hear it?
Where your current pitch lands between human and dog hearing.
⚠️ Is it actually working?
Straight answer: your speaker is the weak link, not your dog.
- Most phone speakers fade out above ~18,000–20,000 Hz, so the highest pitches can play faintly or silently.
- Dogs hear far higher than any speaker can produce — a real whistle reaches 23,000–54,000 Hz.
- Tap Speaker Check to play a tone you can hear and confirm your audio works at all.
How to use it
A whistle only works paired with a reward — dogs aren’t born knowing what it means.

Dog whistle FAQ
Do dog whistle apps actually work?
Sometimes — it depends on your speaker. Dogs easily hear the frequencies, but most phone and laptop speakers struggle above ~18,000–20,000 Hz, so the highest pitches can be too faint. Lower the frequency until you see a reaction, and pair it with a treat. For reliable results, a physical ultrasonic whistle reaches pitches no speaker can.
What frequency stops a dog from barking?
There’s no single magic number. Many owners get a reaction in the 15,000–22,000 Hz range. Start around 20,000 Hz, watch your dog’s ears and head, and adjust. The whistle interrupts the barking — what changes the habit is rewarding the quiet that follows.
Can the whistle hurt my dog’s ears?
At normal volume and short bursts, no. Don’t blast it at full volume continuously or hold it right next to your dog. Use it as a brief signal, not a constant noise.
Why can’t I hear anything?
That’s expected — most adults can’t hear above ~15,000–17,000 Hz, and hearing drops with age. Use the Speaker Check button to confirm your audio is on, then trust your dog’s reaction over your own ears.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser (Safari, Chrome) with no download. Just tap the play button — the first tap unlocks audio.
🐾 Use it kindly
A whistle is a communication tool, not a punishment. Use short, gentle signals paired with rewards. If your dog seems stressed, stop. This tool is for training and play, not for distressing animals — yours or anyone else’s.
